Hello everyone! By the time you are reading this, I will be in Bali relaxing by the poolside in our villa amongst the rice fields, getting way too tanned. Don't be too jealous though, I will also be attending a chiropractic seminar for 3 days!
I was contacted by an up and coming Korean brand called 'Keep in Touch' and they sent me their air cushion and water lip tints to try out. The white blending base cushion comes in 2 shades, 01 Ivory Pure and 02 Ivory Warm and contains SPF 50+. The cushion has a hybrid formula of serum + cover which is artfully put together in a pretty swirl pattern. The formula claims to brighten, calm and hydrate the skin.
The packaging is very striking with the red, white and black colour scheme! The red and black stripy love heart reminds me of my emo days, all it needs is an arrow through it hehe. Around the love heart are little illustrations of beauty products. Overall I'm on the fence about the packaging illustration. I like how unique it is, but to be honest I'm more of a minimalist, pretty packaging kind of girl.
The packaging is heavy and of high quality. The sponge is more dense than the Etude House cushion sponges and applies the product without leaving any sponge marks, which I tend to get when I use the EH any cushion.
Ah it's so gorgeous! I was really hopeful when I opened my cushion (02 Ivory Warm) because it looks like it might be dark enough to match my skin tone, but unfortunately when it blends with the serum it is still too light for my skin which has already been tanned from the perfect beach weather the last few weeks.
Although the swirl of serum is pretty, it does make it more time consuming to blend the two shades on the skin. I also received the shade 01 Ivory Pure refill to show you guys. Ivory Pure is very pale with a greyish cast and obviously unusable for me, whereas Ivory Warm has yellow warm undertones and is significantly darker than Ivory Pure. Ivory Warm is much better suited to South East Asian skin tones and I'm glad that it is this much darker! Usually I cannot match the darkest shade of Korean BB creams at all, whereas I will definitely match Ivory Warm in any other season other than Summer.
My skin has been behaving better lately, and I just have some redness and scars to cover. My main problem is dryness which never seems to dissipate, no matter how much facial oil or moisturisers I apply to it. Below shows my skin with 1 layer of the cushion. The coverage is very impressive and I would consider this a high coverage cushion! I needed much less concealer (only 2-3 dabs) than normal.
The formula adheres to my skin really well and is relatively hydrating (it does not emphasise flakes which is so common with any base products on my skin) with a matte finish. It only semi-sets, as I found out when I swiped a finger over my cheek half an hour later. Thus, I would recommend using powder to set completely. 7 hours later, my skin has a little bit of sheen under the makeup but no creasing around my nose and lips. I was really impressed with the adherence of the formula!
It lasts for a full day on me, and does not separate or cake during the day. The only negative, and I am being picky here, is that it feels a bit heavy on my face. Then again, that is the price for higher coverage as well as hydration. Girls with oily skin may experience some creasing, but the advantage of cushion products is that you can just blend everything in again with the sponge!
As the shade is 2 shades too pale compared to my neck and chest, I wore a high collared top to hide it hehe. From this distance, my skin looks perfect! I did not edit or brighten these images. The pretty orange lip colour is also by Keep in Touch, it is their water tint in the shade More Orange.
I am wearing my favourite Maxlook choco silicone hydrogel lens.
Overall, this cushion has no negatives besides the shade selection, which already caters to a wider variety of skin tones than other Korean brands. I would love it if they had a third darker shade which would be very popular in SE Asia! The packaging is unique, sturdy, high quality and the coverage is fantastic! I am very impressed with this cushion product and would recommend it for girls with dry skin. It can also match girls who have slightly darker skin.
You can purchase the cushion from Cupidrop for $30 USD, a very reasonable price in my opinion.
*I was gifted this product for review, all opinions are 100% honest.
